Got friend envy? Feeling left behind? Comparing yourself to others is a common human thing to do. But it's not the best idea.
We should really only compete with ourselves and set our own targets. But often it seems as though other people seem to have so much more external wealth than us, right? Fancy car, big house, trips overseas, cool clothes, expensive dinners... They seem so sure of themselves, like there is no way they are going to get into financial trouble or lose their job.
What's their secret you may wonder?
Well, external shows of wealth often come at a price and aren't always what they seem, on the one hand. On the other hand, it can be a good thing to act as though you have money and believe it will come to you, because more always does – it's how the universe works.
Let's look at the first side of the coin first.
Big house could be funded by a mortgage bond. They are probably working long hours at the office to pay off the installments. Good for them. Hard work deserves rewards like a nice place to come home to.
But then there is the other side of the coin. Acting 'as if' you have money in order to attract more.
Carry yourself in a confident way, like you're worth a million bucks, and sure enough, you will be sooner or later. Mental attitude sends out a message of expectation, and expectation is a powerful thing. Belief in yourself is self-fulfilling and renewing. So when you believe you are worthy of financial reward and a high standard of living, energy dynamics respond to this through various channels.
To put it simply: if a well dressed businessman in an Armani suit offers you a proposal to do work for you, or a shoddily dressed, ill groomed man offers to do the same job for you, who are you likely to pay more to do the job for you?
It's about presenting yourself to the world in a way that says you deserve the best because you are the best, so the best comes to you. A good place to start is to stop envying others and comparing yourself to them and start looking in the mirror and practicing some positive self-talk. Focus on your own achievements, what you have come through and the obstacles you have overcome. Use what you have going for your in your own unique way and let the world see it.
Walk as though you have already achieved what you want to achieve. Imagine the feeling, and live it.
